What are the advantages of 3D laser scanning?

Aug 08, 2023

The 3D laser scanning technology can obtain the 3D coordinate data of the surface of the measured object quickly with high resolution through the high-speed laser scanning measurement method, which provides a new technical means for the rapid establishment of the 3D image model of the object.

3D laser scanning technology uses the principle of laser distance measurement to record the 3D coordinates, reflectivity and texture information of a large number of dense points on the surface of the measured object, which can quickly reproduce the 3D model of the measured object and various map data such as lines, surfaces and bodies. The more dense the point cloud, the more accurate the model is created (this process is called 3D reconstruction).

1.The 3D laser scanner is highly intelligent, and the automatically emitted laser can measure the three-dimensional coordinate information of the surface points of the target object, without complicated operation, and realize the one-click automatic scanning.

2.In conventional measurement methods, the measurement of a point needs to take about 2-5 seconds, in complex scenes, it may take several minutes to measure the coordinates of a point. The maximum speed of the 3D laser scanner has reached 1 million points per second, which is the basic guarantee of the detailed description of the object of the 3D laser scanner, factory pipes, tunnels, terrain and other complex areas can not be measured has become the past.

3.Data acquisition of full elements, high-density, high-precision 3D laser scanning in horizontal and vertical directions at the same time to quickly obtain high-precision, high-resolution massive point data.

4.The data is a three-dimensional vector. The data measured by a simple and intuitive three-dimensional laser scanner each time not only contains the information of X,Y and Z points, but also includes the color information of R,G and B, as well as the information of the reflectivity of the object.

5. Non-contact measurement method to ensure the safety of operation using non-contact target method, personnel do not need to touch the measured object, can directly collect the three-dimensional data of the object surface, reducing the measurement risk. It can effectively avoid the measurement risk of irregular buildings, dangerous scenes (high altitude, power plant, radiation), and provide safety for measurement.

6. Through direct acquisition of data collected by digital signals, it has full digital characteristics, convenient for post-processing and output, and has good sharing with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, ArchiCad, Bentley, Tekla and other software.
